Upstands, splashbacks and window sills are usually 20mm thick.
Upstands are usually between 50-100mm high. You can incorporate window sills into the upstand.
A splashback behind the cooker or sink allows easy cleaning and can be shaped. Full height splashbacks are both impressive and functional.
